Following a regular meeting of council on March 10, councilman Gerard Neugebauer announced plans to run for the open mayoral seat.

“My vision, right now, is to make Green a more livable place and a better experience for our residents,” Neugebauer said.

He noted that his focus will be on road care and maintenance as traffic in the city continues to increase.

“Right now, we have a lot of traffic congestion and so one of my main focuses is going to be on that traffic congestion,” Neugebauer said. “ … I think they have made improvements in a lot of areas. I think there are some things we can do to expedite some of the other problems we have on Massillon Road and road conditions are bad and that is a priority of mine.”

Neugebauer chairs the planning, community & economic development committee and is vice-chair of the finance committee.

Neugebauer is an engineer and works as Project Manager at Environmental Design Group. He graduated from the University of Akron in 1997 as an engineer and received his Master’s Degree in Business Administration.
