  • The Wednesday afternoon thunderstorms, not surprisingly, caused power outages throughout the Stark County area.
AEP Ohio reported that nearly 1,200 customers in Stark County were without service as of 6 p.m. The storm appeared to hit Tuscarawas County harder, with 11,600 customers —more than one-third of AEP’s customer base — without service.
FirstEnergy reported scattered power outages throughout its service area in western, northern and eastern Stark County. Outages affecting 100 to 500 customers were reported in the Navarre area, while an outage affecting more than 500 customers occurred in Tuscarawas Township. Several small outages were reported in the Hartville and Alliance areas.
