  • A passion for knitting and an aunt’s encouragement led Judi Hederich to open My Sister’s Yarn Shop in 2008. Born and raised in Firestone Park, Hederich selected her shop’s name because her sisters kept telling people, “My sister is opening a yarn shop.” Hederich resided in Michigan for 22 years before returning to the area when her husband, Dave, retired from General Motors. Judi chose her shop’s location because of its easy access to I-77 and the foot traffic in the Servus Center on Massillon Road.
At her shop, she offers knitting and crocheting classes for beginners in addition to a variety of other classes. Her goal is to instill confidence in people’s ability to continue on their own and expand their needlework skills. Clients are offered the opportunity to select their yarn and project and receive personal instructions from one of three instructors to complete the project.
A Friday knit and crochet, non-instructional, class is offered at no charge and encourages you to sit, visit and relax with others while working on any of your needlework projects
This fall the yarn shop is participating in the Third Annual Yarn Discovery Tour from Sept. 10 through Sept. 25. Thirteen northeast Ohio yarn shops are working together to encourage customers to visit participating locations on the tour to acquaint them with the merchandise lines carried at each shop.
A $5 passport ticket is available at all 13 locations and will be stamped at each shop the customer visits. The $5 passport fee includes a gift bag. In addition to the gift bag, a purchase of $10 at each shop also puts the customer into a gift basket drawing for that shop. Visit six shops and make a $10 purchase at each shop and you’ll qualify for a chance to win a $250 value gift basket.
Hederich is a member of the National Needle Arts Association, the Western Reserve Knitters Guild and the Green Chamber of Commerce.
