Early Monday morning, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of a suspected meth lab at Avon Trailer Park in Green. It marked the third suspected meth lab uncovered by authorities this weekend. Officers reportedly spotted smoke coming out of the trunk of a vehicle at the property and saw two men standing nearby.
Jesse Atkinson, 34, of Stow and Brian Cross, 39, of Green were arrested after authorities reportedly found components of a meth lab inside the vehicle. Both were charged with illegal manufacture of drugs, which is a second degree felony.
This incident came days after the Summit County Drug Unit uncovered two meth labs in neighboring New Franklin.
Friday, the unit received a call from a local business owner who discovered a meth dump site in the area of Rt. 619 and Eastern Road in the township. The dump site was reportedly discovered in a ditch on the side of the road.
Around 3 p.m. Saturday, the unit responded to a report of a possible meth lab in the 900 block of W. Turkeyfoot Lake Road in New Franklin. The owner of the rental property where the meth lab was reportedly found was checking on the condition of the property, discovered the meth lab and called police.
