  • Aultman Hospital announced a new chief executive Thursday as the county’s largest hospital prepares to tackle health-care reform.
Christopher E. Remark, of Lake Township, had been the hospital’s chief operating officer.
In a statement, Edward J. Roth III, president and CEO of the umbrella Aultman Health Foundation, said the appointment will allow Remark to assume full responsibility for the hospital’s daily operation.
“As we prepare for the Affordable Care Act and the challenges of health care reform, we know we will need to continuously improve our quality and become even more efficient and more cost-effective if we want to continue to meet our mission to lead our community to improved health,” Roth said. “This appointment will help us achieve that goal.”
Before Remark’s appointment, Roth served as chief executive for both the Foundation and the hospital.
Remark joined Aultman in 1993 as a financial analyst and has held a variety of executive positions with the Foundation since 1997.
The Aultman Health Foundation is a not-for-profit organization comprising Aultman Hospital, Aultman Orrville Hospital, AultCare health insurance and Aultman College of Nursing and Health Sciences.
In addition to being the county’s largest hospital, Aultman is the biggest employer with a staff of nearly 5,000 workers.
