  • The Portage Lakes Kiwanis held their annual Scholarship Awards presentation Wednesday evening, May 25, in the Civic Center and was pleased to present $1,500 scholarships to four local high school seniors.
The Portage Lakes Kiwanis has had the opportunity to award these scholarships since 1988 through the generous support of their annual October Rose Remembrance Day sale. Each scholarship recipient was a Key Club member at their respective high school and completed several hours of community volunteer work.
This year’s recipients from Manchester High School are Bricey Kepnes, accepted into the University of Akron’s Honor’s College and Maxwell R. Miller, accepted at Kent State University. The Coventry High School recipients are Jacob Oravecz, Valedictorian, accepted to the University of Mount Union and Juli Anna Pilolli, who will be attending The University of Akron.
Kiwanis is a global organization of local volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.
