CHAMPAIGN — Illini cornerback Terry Hawthorne was limited against Ohio State because of pain in the foot that incurred a stress fracture last season, coach Ron Zook said Wednesday, but Hawthorne was expected to play when No. 23 Illinois plays at Purdue Saturday.

Hawthorne has practiced this week, Zook said.

“We’ve been cautious with him this week,’’ Zook said. “When you get that stuff, we tried to be smart with him all the way back to two-a-days at Camp Rantoul and held him and Darius (Millines) a little bit.’’

Millines, a wide receiver, will play against the Boilermakers after missing the last three games with a stress fracture in his foot, Zook said.

“He’s not 100 percent, but he’s close,’’ Zook said.

Running back Jason Ford also is expected to return after suffering a sprained shoulder against Ohio State.
