A Canton man accused of robbing three Canal Fulton teens trying to buy a gun and then kidnapping them has been arrested.
An 18-year-old Canton man accused of carjacking three Canal Fulton teens, beating one of them unconscious and kidnapping the other two Friday has been arrested.
J’Shar Dorian Stinson, 18, of 1238 Tuscarawas St. E, was arrested at 5 p.m. Monday in the 2600 block of Tuscarawas Street W on warrants charging him with two counts each of kidnapping and aggravated robbery and with child delinquency, Stark County Jail records said.
He was held at the jail in lieu of $1 million cash bond.
Capt. Dave Davis, who heads the Canton police department’s Detective Bureau has said that at least one of three Canal Fulton 17-year-olds was trying to purchase a handgun from three men at 2:41 a.m. Friday in the 1100 block of Cleveland Avenue NW near the Life Skills Center where one of the victims attends classes. Two of the three suspects had guns.
Instead of selling the gun, one of the suspects robbed the teens at gunpoint, beating one and leaving him lie in the parking lot and then took the other two to an ATM in the teens’ car, Davis said. The suspects forced the teens to withdraw money form their bank accounts, released them out at Georgetown Street NE and Trump Avenue and then drove away.
The teen left lying in the parking lot was gone by the time police were notified.
His father found him hours later in the 600 block of Fulton Road NW, took him to the police department and then to Mercy Medical Center where he was treated and then released.
Police have released no information about the other two suspects.
