  • The sister of a Canal Fulton-area teen who police believe was knocked unconscious by three men who robbed him and his friends at gunpoint Friday, said her brother called a friend hours later to report that he was lost.
The friend called the siblings’ father, who found the 17-year-old boy in the 600 block of Fulton Road NW.
“They (had) threatened to shoot him in the foot. They stuck a 9 mil (9mm gun) in his mouth. They struck him in the side of the face with a gun and they burned his face with a blunt,” his sister said. “He’s shaken up. He’s also mad that they took his shoes and his money.”
Capt. Dave Davis, who heads the police department’s Detective Bureau, said the teen was taken to an area hospital to be treated for what appeared to be minor injuries.
“Our investigation will continue at this point,” Davis said.
Police are still looking for the car the robbers allegedly took when they kidnapped the teen’s friends — also 17-year-old Canal Fulton-area boys.
The incident reportedly occurred at 2:41 a.m. Friday in the 1100 block of Cleveland Avenue NW near the Life Skills Center, which one of the victims attends, Davis said. The school was closed at the time.
The teens told police they were robbed there by three black men, two of whom had guns.
“During the robbery, one of the teens was struck in the head, pistol-whipped, and knocked unconscious,” Davis said, adding that he was left lying unconscious in the parking lot.
The robbers then forced the other two victims into his car and drove them to an ATM, he said. Those teens told police they were forced to withdraw money from their bank accounts. Detectives declined to say how much.
Davis said the victims told police they were driven around for awhile and then released at Georgetown Street NE and Trump Avenue. They then went to a neighboring home, where they called 911.
Davis said that when police went to the initial scene of the robbery, the teen who’d been knocked out was gone.
Police began a search as his mother reported him missing.
He was found by 10 a.m. Friday. His father picked him up, took him to the police department and then to the hospital.
“Everyone seems to be accounted for,” except for the robbers and the car, Chief Bruce Lawver said.
The officers continued to search for the stolen car.
It is described as a gold, four-door 1999 Buick Century that bears Ohio license plates reading CCU 6432.
