  • Titus Yoder grew up in Hartville and graduated from Lake High School. It was because of those roots that he decided to open a business in the community. Yoder Medical, located at 860 W. Maple St. has been in business since 1992. The company offers home medical equipment and supplies with a strong emphasis on uniforms.
“I thought I would open something locally that would serve the people of Lake Township and the surrounding areas so they did not need to go to Cleveland, Akron or Canton for their needed medical equipment.”
After graduating from Shenandoah University, Yoder was a registered respiratory therapist and the director of respiratory care at the Community of Wooster Hospital for 11 years.
In 1987, he began a company called Wayne Health Services and Supplies, located in Wooster and then its sister company, Yoder Medical. The companies offer many medical supplies such as wheelchairs, shower chairs, first aid supplies, nursing accessories, blood pressure units, stethoscopes, compression stockings, hospital beds, oxygen and much more including personal service.
Janie Churchill, of Hartville, has been working at Yoder Medical for 11 years. She likes the personal contact with the patients.
“Over the years you get to know them as well as the people that come in to get uniforms all the time,” said Churchill. “Titus is a great person to work for and he is very conscientious. Our customer service is very important to us and that comes from the top down.”
Uniforms are a large portion of the Hartville business.
“We get a lot of people from Youngstown, Alliance, Richfield and many surrounding communities,” said Churchill. “We are told that we have a great selection and good prices.”
Hartville resident Jan Kuhn has been with the company for six months and brings with her years of retail experience. She finds the work interesting and stated there was a lot more to the business than she ever realized.
“It is a personal thing. You get to know the people better. I like that,” she said.
Yoder stated that his sister-in-law, Uniontown resident, Cindy Yoder had worked for the company since it  began until last year. “She was here 16 years and was a valuable asset to the company. “
The companies work closely with family physicians to provide prescribed equipment and supplies.
For every medical need, including lab coats, scrubs, batteries for electric wheelchairs, back braces, support hose and knee braces, Yoder Medical will find the supplies and provide friendly, caring service.
