  • A Plaza Court woman, 25, was held in the Summit County Jail June 14 on charges of aggravated burglary, assault and endangering children. Police said she broke into a home on Crestline Drive, struck a resident there and then attempted to grab a 3-year-old boy out of his father's arms.

    On June 21, an Elmhurst Circle woman told deputies she was swindled out of $758 after responding to an email from someone she thought was her son's landlord. The email said her son needed financial help. She wired the money only to realize later that it was all a scam.
    A GPS unit and a camera were reported stolen June 20 from a pickup truck in the 800 block of Lancelot Lane.
    A Handforth Street woman told deputies June 20 that her ex-husband was harassing her by constantly texting her crude messages. A deputy contacted the ex-husband who agreed to restrict his communication with the woman to matters only involving their three children.
    A man and three women were charged with theft June 19 at an Arlington Ridge department store. Deputies said they walked out with three cameras and a George Foreman grill without paying.
    Also on June 19, a Honeymoon Drive man reported someone smashed out his two front windows. An estimate of the damage was unavailable at the time of the report.
    A Woodview Road man, 27, was charged with assault June 18. He is accused of pulling a man out of a chair and ripping his shirt at a Massillon Road bar.
    A Schneiderman Road woman called deputies June 18 after her 18-year-old son took her car without her permission. The son returned the car a few hours later. The woman was advised to contact the prosecutor's office if she wished to pursue charges.
    On June 17, a Twinsburg woman reported her purse was stolen after she left it on a seat for five minutes at the Akron-Canton Airport. The purse contained $1,000, a cell phone, several credit cards and a checkbook.
    A Beechtree Drive man, 69, was charged June 16 with disorderly conduct by intoxication. Deputies said he was verbally abusive to a barmaid at a restaurant on East Turkeyfoot Lake Road. He also refused to stop yelling and swearing after several warnings from a deputy. He was later taken to a detoxification center.
    A Barberton man reported his car was broken into while he was inside a South Arlington Road restaurant June 15. The man's wallet containing his driver's license and two credit cards was taken.
    A 37-year-old Akron man was charged with assault June 19 after he was accused of punching a man in the face at a home on Dorwil Drive.
    Also on June 19, a Buttercup Avenue man said someone obtained his store credit card number and used it to charge more than $6,000 worth of purchases at a South Arlington Road home improvement store. Deputies were investigating.
    A resident on N. Turkeyfoot Road told deputies an unknown man came to his house to complain about items he had bought at his yard sale. When he refused to refund the man's money, the man got angry and asked him to step outside. When he declined, the man left without further incident.
    Page 2 of 3 - On June 17, a Daisy Avenue man said he hired a subcontractor to do some work at his home. After the subcontractor and his employees left, he discovered $2,350 was missing.
    A 28-year-old Akron woman was charged June 17 with possession of methamphetamine and theft, and her companion, a 33-year-old man, also of Akron, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. According to reports, the couple was stopped on South Arlington Road after an Akron resident told deputies she tracked her stolen phone to the couple. Officers discovered the phone on the woman who claimed she found it and was going to give it back. During the investigation, officers found six grams of methamphetamine belonging to the woman. Her companion was found with a glass pipe and a digital scale.
    A 24-year-old Clinton man was locked up in the Summit County Jail June 16 on charges of illegal manufacturing of drugs, illegal assembly of chemicals for manufacturing and obstructing official business.
    A deputy was dispatched to a home in the 3700 block of Lake Vista Road in reference to a report of drug activity. The homeowner said she and her family returned home from vacation and discovered the suspect had been cooking methamphetamine in her basement. During the investigation, the man fled the scene but was apprehended a short time later. Members of the Summit County Drug Unit were called to the home to collect evidence.
    A boat propeller valued at $150 was reported stolen June 20 from a yard in the 1000 block of W. Turkeyfoot Lake Road.
    Cuyahoga Falls police arrested a 41-year-old man for receiving stolen property June 17 after he tried to sell a set of golf clubs at a sporting goods store in their city. The golf clubs were identified as the same ones reported stolen from a pickup truck on W. Turkeyfoot Lake Road earlier in the day.
    A Church Street woman, 49, was charged June 17 with criminal mischief and obstructing official business. After arresting the woman for drunk driving, officers took her back to the police station, where they said she purposely urinated on the floor. She also refused to submit to a blood alcohol test and fingerprinting, reports said.
    A 26-year-old Akron woman was charged June 16 with theft and possession of drug abuse instruments. Police said she tried to leave a South Arlington Road department store with $144 worth of merchandise without paying. A hypodermic needle was found in her purse during her arrest.
    Police arrested a 24-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man on a warrant June 15 after stopping him for a traffic violation on East Waterloo Road.
    A 32-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, both of W. First Street, were charged June 15 with theft and endangering children. According to reports, a loss prevention officer observed the couple shoplifting video games and clothing from a South Arlington Road department store. When the officer confronted the suspects outside, they reportedly grabbed a child out of the car, got into the vehicle and drove out of the parking lot. Police stopped them in traffic a short time later.
    Page 3 of 3 - A 22-year-old Akron woman was charged with public intoxication June 15 after she was seen stumbling on Krumroy Road.
    Five people were arrested for allegedly stealing merchandise from two South Arlington Road department stores June 14-15. A Copley woman, 34, was seen concealing $235 in athletic clothing in her purse. n An Akron man, 35, reportedly took $50 worth of merchandise off a shelf and tried to leave without paying. A 19-year-old Uniontown man was accused of shoplifting a $20 video game. A 29-year-old Akron woman tried to leave with $63 worth of merchandise. A Barberton man, 24, was caught concealing a set of trading cards valued at $93.
    n Police investigated a burglary at a home in the 3000 block of Albrecht Avenue June 14. A $50 DVD player and a checkbook were taken.
    A Plaza Court woman, 25, was held in the Summit County Jail June 14 on charges of aggravated burglary, assault and endangering children. Police said she broke into a home on Crestline Drive, struck a resident there and then attempted to grab a 3-year-old boy out of his father's arms.
    Also on June 14, police were called to investigate a possible theft and forgery at a Howard Lane business. An employee was accused of taking a company check and making it out to herself and cashing it.
    A Myersville Road man, 65, was charged June 13 with domestic violence after he was accused of assaulting his wife at their home. He was booked into the Summit County Jail.
    On June 15, police responded to a call of two men fighting outside a bar on Lake Road. Officers said one of the men, a 46-year-old of East Waterloo Road, was highly intoxicated and uncooperative. The other suspect, a 41-year-old of Elm Grove Road in Akron, was reportedly involved in a fight with another man. Both suspects were charged with disorderly conduct and released with a summons.
    Someone broke into a home June 21 in the 2900 block of Lake Center Street. Three men's bracelets and a flat-screen television, total value $2,915, were taken.
    A Cove Street woman told police she received a call from someone claiming to be her granddaughter who said she needed $980 to get out of jail in Canada. She became suspicious the call was a scam and notified police.
    On June 18, a Kreighbaum Street woman reported someone used her credit card number to make several unauthorized charges at two area stores. She said she had the credit card in her possession the entire time. She has since cancelled the card.
    A Marboro Township woman, 42, was charged with drunken driving June 17. The arresting officer noted the woman had a strong smell of alcohol on her and her eyes appeared watery and bloodshot. She was initially stopped on W. Maple Street for not using a turn signal.
