Jackson Township trustees to interview sole candidate Friday to replace outgoing Police Chief Harley Neftzer.
Major David J. Zink wants to replace Harley Neftzer as the township’s police chief.
Zink is the only applicant for the post.
Neftzer, who resigned last week, will leave the Police Department on March 29 for a new job with the Jackson Local Schools District.
Township trustees sought in-house candidates for the vacant position. Only Zink applied. They’ll interview him 5:30 p.m. Friday in a closed-door session.
No action is expected.
Trustee John Pizzino said they’ll interview Zink and ask a set of 30 questions. A decision could be made Monday night. That decision either could be to hire Zink or expand the search outside the department, Pizzino said Thursday.
Zink has been with the department for 23 years, according to his application. He has held his current rank since October 2006.
