  • Students at Dueber Elementary School helped kick off Stark County’s St. Pets Day event this week by celebrating their pets and donating to the cause.
Students decorated their school’s gymnasium with pictures of their pets, danced to Motown music from O’Dell and the O’Zone and met with Stark County firefighters and pet-rescue group volunteers, who were in attendance with their pets. The students received free coloring books and green beads and shamrock stickers, courtesy of State Farm and the Ohio Greyhound Gathering & Adoption.
In its eighth year, St. Pets Day is a month-long pet food donation drive sponsored by the Celtic Club of Ohio. Residents in Stark, Summit and Portage counties participate throughout March.
Of the Dueber event, the Celtic Club’s Jim Collver said, “This is the most fun we’ve had yet.”
