  • It is turning into a crazy day in Berea.
First, Jimmy Haslam and Joe Banner paraded in as the new owner and CEO of the Browns this morning.
Then, a big motorcade pulled up to the entrance at 76 Lou Groza Blvd.
Vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan and former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice emerged.
When it was time for the Browns to practice, Ryan and Rice walked onto the field with Haslam and an army of people in dress suits.
There was an obvious extra pep in the steps of the Browns players as they ran through drills under the unusual entourage’s watchful eyes.
Haslam’s father is the Tennessee chairman of the campaign to elect Mitt Romney and Ryan.
Beat writers were invited to watch practice but were instructed not to approach Ryan or Rice. Rice, a life-long Browns fan, has been to Berea a few times.
Ryan and Rice briefly addressed the team.
