Weekend tip: Celebrate Hawaii's birthday

On Aug. 21, 1959, Hawaii became the 50th state. In honor of the Aloha State’s birthday, host a Hawaii-themed party. Grill and eat pineapple, wear leis and dance the hula. Or if you’ve got money to burn, head to Hawaii!

Dinner idea: Grilled sweet corn

4 ears of corn

Butter, to taste

Salt, to taset

Remove outer husks. Turn back inner husks, and remove silk. Then wash the ear, spread with butter and salt and pull the inner husks back over the ear. Tightly secure the open ends with wire. You need this to help steam the corn. Grill about 3 inches from the heat source, turning often, about 20 to 30 minutes. If the husks begin to char, brush them with water.
