  • Lace up with the Firestone Park YMCA, Cleveland Plays Racing and Bridgestone Americas Trust Fund on Sunday, May 8 as they kick off the 1st Annual Just A Run In The Park race through Firestone Park in Akron. The first 300 finishers will receive a Mother’s Day Flower! Proceeds from this 5K and 1-mile race will benefit the Akron Area YMCA Partners With Youth Annual Giving Campaign.
    The Partners With Youth Annual Giving Campaign provides kids with the opportunity to experience Summer Day Camp, develops leadership programs for teens, offers child care opportunities and enables families to experience the Y. Contributions from Just A Run In The Park and other fun-spirited events through the Firestone Park YMCA support kids, teens, adults and families of the Firestone Park community.
    Just A Run In The Park participants may pick up their racing packets on Saturday, May 7 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Firestone Park YMCA. The race begins on Sunday, May 8 with packet pick up at 6:30 a.m. and the 1-mile race at 8 a.m. followed by the 5K at 8:30 a.m.! Cost is $10 per runner for the 1-mile race. $20.00 for the 5K. Those wishing to participate in both races must pay $25 a runner. The deadline to register is one hour prior to the start of each race and an extra $5 will be applied to registrants who sign up the day of the race.
     Join the Firestone Park YMCA at the Firestone Park Stadium located on 1575 Firestone Parkway as they experience a course incorporating the streets of the famous Firestone Park Shield — South Firestone Boulevard, North Firestone Boulevard and Aster Avenue.
