Performing in competition at the Palace Theatre on March 5 at 7 p.m. will be the following finalists:
    • Across the Viaduct, representing Perry High School.
    • The Brighter Side, GlenOak High School.
    • Line of Defense, Jackson High School.
    • MessyFace, Jackson High School.
    • Motion, Jackson High School.
    • NOCA, Hoover High School.
    • O.N.E., Hoover High School.
    • Sicadia, Lake High School.
The entries this year were stronger than ever before, in terms of both recording quality and overall musicianship, making the decision process harder than ever.
These eight finalists are diverse musically, running the gamut from blues rock to grunge rock to hard rock to alternative rock. Two of the bands each have three female members — a battle first!
To listen to songs by each of the eight finalists, visit www.cantonrep.com/battle.
At the Palace show, each band will perform one original song and a cover tune of their choice. A panel of five judges will determine the winner. As at the past seven previous battles, those attending are encouraged to show support for their favorites with signs, banners and customized T-shirts.
Advance discount tickets, $6, are on sale at the Westfield Belden Village Concierge Center located at the mall’s Food Court entrance. They also are on sale in The Repository lobby at 500 Market Ave. S, weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets will be $8 at the door. Seating is first-come, first-served. Doors will open at 6 p.m.
The Feb. 25 Ticket will feature interviews and multiple photos of each competing band.
