Curtis R. Thomas, 18, has been arrested in connection with the Feb. 16 shooting of a Canton teen.
Acting on a tip, Canton police say have arrested a man wanted in the Feb. 16 shooting of a 16-year-old boy.
Sgt. Victor George of the Canton Police Department and officers with the FBI Fugitive Crimes Task Force arrested Curtis R. Thomas, 18, without incident shortly after 5 p.m. in the 1200 block of Jones Ct. NW, Lt. Scott Beard said today.
Thomas is accused in the shooting of Jamar T. Babb, who was wounded in the side Feb. 16 at Georgetown Street and Fenton Avenue NE.
Babb ,who lives in the 900 block of Third Street NE, was taken to Aultman Hospital’s intensive care unit and has been released. Doctors told detectives that removing the bullet at this time could cause further damage.
Thomas was arrested on a felonious assault warrant, Beard said.
Police said Tuesday that the shooting may have been the result of a dispute between The Unit and the Rated R street gangs. Thomas is believed to be a member of The Unit.
