  • Will-Burt Co. expects to expand its business with the purchase of two Diebold product lines.
Will-Burt bought a security filing cabinet and vault door business and the LINX Security Solutions business from Diebold. Terms of the deal, which closed Dec. 31, weren’t revealed.
The two operations were a small part of Diebold’s overall security business, spokesman Michael Jacobsen said. Selling the operations allows Diebold to focus on other growth opportunities in the security business, he said.
The security filing cabinets and vault doors have been made by Will-Burt since 1996 under the Diebold and Mosler names. Now the products, which meet General Service Administration approval, will be sold under the Will-Burt brand.
Included in the purchase of Diebold’s LINX access control business lines is the LINX GateMaster, which is designed to help manage entry into a base or campus setting. The automated gate entry equipment helps to identify people and vehicles entering a facility, and can prevent unauthorized entry.
While the LINX products have been used by federal agencies, Will-Burt hopes to expand to nongovernment customers. John Stroia, chief operating officer, said the new business is a natural extension of security and surveillance products the company also sells to the Defense Department and Homeland Security.
The new product lines are paired with Will-Burt’s established business making telescoping mast and tower elevation equipment. The company also designs and makes shelters from all-composite materials.
