  • Stark County commissioners, Jan. 16 meeting

  • KEY ACTION  Agreed to ask the Ohio Department of Transportation to change the speed limits on eight roads throughout Stark County.
    DISCUSSION  The Stark County Engineer’s Office requested the changes after conducting studies to determine the appropriate speed limit for each road.
    The recommended changes are:
    • From 45 mph to 40 mph on Easton Street NE between Market Avenue N and Bentler Avenue NE in Plain Township.
    • From 45 mph to 40 mph on Frank Avenue NW between University Drive and Huckleberry Street NW in Jackson Township.
    • From 55 mph to 45 mph on Frank Avenue NW between Huckleberry Street and Mt. Pleasant Street NW in Jackson Township.
    • From 55 mph to 45 mph on Mount Pleasant Street NW between Frank Avenue and Pittsburg Avenue NW in Jackson Township.
    • From 55 mph to 45 mph on Orrville Street NW between Deerfield Avenue and Alabama Avenue NW in Lawrence Township.
    • From 35 mph to 35/45 mph on Orrville Street NW between Alabama Avenue NW in Lawrence  Township and Earl Road in Perry Township.
    • From 45 mph to 40 mph on Perry Drive NW between Tuscarawas Street W and 12th Street NW in Perry Township.
    • From 55 mph to 45 mph on Werner Church Road NE between Middlebranch Avenue and slightly east of Knollridge Avenue NE in Plain Township.
