Police arrested an Akron man and his Canton relative on disorderly conduct charges when they caught them darting through traffic at the busy Strip area Wednesday afternoon.
When police encountered two drunk men darting in and out of traffic near The Strip and asked them to call someone for rides home, the men insisted they needed no help.
They were soon arrested.
Michael A. Clayton, 30, of Akron, and a 26-year-old relative who lives on Gardendale Avenue NE in Canton, were arrested at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 6600 block of Strip Ave. NW and jailed on a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct with intoxication, Stark County Jail records said.
Clayton was additionally charged with felony drug tampering when he arrived at the jail and police found him with two Ambien pills and an unidentified purple pill, the jail records said.
He remained in the jail early Thursday, held in lieu of $100,500 bond.
His relative was released on his own recognizance pending a hearing in Canton Municipal Court. The Repository does not typically name misdemeanor crime suspects.
