  • For almost seven years, Frontier Airlines flew west out of Akron-Canton Airport (CAK). Sunday was its last day of operation at CAK. It has moved operations to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport with Denver flights beginning today.
Westbound passengers, however, need have no concerns, said Kristie VanAuken, CAK’s senior vice president and chief marketing and communications officer. Southwest Airlines, which came to CAK in August, has a daily flight to Denver and two daily flights to Midway Airport in Chicago.
“As sad as we are that Frontier is leaving, “ said VanAuken, “we are very optimisitic about the future with Southwest flying nonstop to Denver and Chicago. And from those two you can access other destinations all over the West, so we have not lost any westbound access. And most important, we still have low fares.”
