  • Get Out! Santa makes last-minute appearances

  • With Christmas less than two weeks away, Santa’s a very busy guy. But that isn’t going to stop him from making a few whirlwind appearances in the area before Christmas has come and gone.

  • With Christmas less than two weeks away, Santa’s a very busy guy. But that isn’t going to stop him from making a few whirlwind appearances in the area before Christmas has come and gone.
    Besides the area shopping malls, here’s where and when you can catch the jolly old elf before the big day.
    • Massillon Senior Center, 39 Lincoln Way W. Have breakfast with the big guy Saturday at either 8:45 or 9:30 a.m. Children can have their picture taken with Santa, create a holiday craft and enjoy pancakes and sausage. The cost is $5 for children age 12 and younger, $4 for adults and teens 13 and older. For more details, email wprather@massillonohio.com.
    • Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 4705 Fairhaven Ave. NW, Canton. From 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, children and their families can feast on pancakes, sausage, bagels and fruit, listen to stories and carols, create crafts and peruse Greek pastries and cookies up for sale. The cost is $4 for children age 12 and younger, $6 for adults. For more information and pre-sale tickets, call 330-494-8770.
    • Church of Christ Christian Disciples, 353 Moody Ave., Carrollton. Pancakes, sausage and beverages are on the menu - along with a visit with Santa - from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday. Children receive a special gift. Tickets are $5 and available at Ashton’s 5 & 10 at 60 W. Main St., and Carroll County Convention & Visitors Bureau, 61 N. Lisbon. Photos with Santa will be available for an additional $5. For more details, call 330-627-4451.
    • National College, 4736 Dressler Road NW, Jackson Township. From 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 20, kids and adults alike can talk to Santa, enjoy cookies and milk and create a craft to take home, all for free. For more details, call 330-492-5300 or email smarcoguiseppe@national-college.edu.
    Pets can get in on the act, too.
    •  Santa will pose for photos with pets at Carnation Mall from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 19.
    • The Stark County Humane Society will host pet pictures with Santa from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at  the Massillon PetSmart, 2026 Lincoln Way E. For more details, call 330-453-5529.
    • The Tuscarawas County Humane Society will receive a portion of proceeds from pet photos with Santa from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Jackson Township PetSmart at 5465 Dressler Road NW. The Ohio Greyhound Gathering and Adoption will benefit from the photos from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the store. The cost is $10.95 (with a $1 discount for PetSmart cardholders).
    • Pets also can get their pictures taken with Santa from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Tractor Supply, 1335 Canton Road NW in Carrollton. The cost is $9.99 for a 4x6 framed print; check or cash accepted. Proceeds go toward construction of an animal shelter in Carroll County. All pets must be leashed.

    Letters can be dropped off at the following locations:
    • In his official mailbox at Carnation City Mall. Watch Channel 11 every Saturday during the Santa’s Mallshop Show to see if he chooses to read your letter. For more details, visit www.carnationcitymall.com/santa.html.
    • Massillon Recreation Center lobby, 505 Erie St. N, through Sunday. Include a self-addressed stamped envelope and receive a reply from Santa.
    • Canton Joint Recreation District through Friday. Address them to: Santa’s Workshop, in care of Canton Recreation, 1414 Market Ave. N, Canton, OH, 44714. Include a self-addressed stamped legal-size envelope for a reply.
    • Jackson Township Administration Building, 5735 Wales Ave. NW, through Saturday. Children should include their names and addresses on their letters.  Letters must be dropped off personally.
