KEY ACTION Adopted a resolution to add seven street lights to the Scotsbury Highlands area off Beatty Street in Massillon. The annual estimated cost per property owner is $11.63. A public hearing was held before the vote, and no residents spoke for or against the addition of the lights.
DISCUSSION During the public speaks portion of the meeting, a township resident asked about the amount of savings expected from turning the lights off at dusk in the north park. The trustees said the savings amounts to approximately $500 a month.
James Walters, president of the Jackson Township trustees, said he has been asked by residents if they can walk in the parks after dark without the lights.
“The answer is no, people are not allowed to walk in the parks after it gets dark, because the parks are closed at dusk,” Walters said.
