  • Police arrest suspect in Coventry bank robbery

  • Richard W. Remmy Jr., 52, of Barberton, was arrested Friday by the Summit County Sheriff's Office in connection to the May 16 robbery of the PNC Bank located at 3379 Manchester Road in Coventry Township.
    Remmy was arrested without incident at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Manchester Road by sheriff's deputies. He has been charged with aggravated robbery and was transported to the Summit County jail following his arrest. Further charges are pending following the outcome of the investigation.
    His arrest came almost exactly 24 hours after the robbery, which took place Thursday at approximately 2:55 p.m.
    Information from the public was provided to the sheriff's office within hours of the robbery and allowed deputies to identify Remmy as the suspect.
    Remmy has previous arrests for robbery and drug related charges, according to the sheriff's office. Court records show that he was charged with aggravated robbery and drug possession offenses in 2006 in Norton and with drug possession in Barberton in 1996.
    Remmy is the third robbery suspect arrested by the Summit County Office's Detective and Patrol divisions since January.
