10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Senator Kennedy’s funeral mass will take place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Basilica,1545 Tremont St., Roxbury. While his daughter, Kara, was battling lung cancer at a nearby Boston hospital, Senator Kennedy attended Our Lady of Perpetual Hope each day to pray for her. Over time, the Basilica took on special meaning for him as a place of hope and optimism. This event is by invitation only.
Approximately 1:30 p.m. Departure from Hanscom Air Force Base
Approximately 3 p.m. Arrival at Andrews Air Force Base, motorcade to the Capitol, with a brief stop at about 4:30 p.m. for prayers. It will continue to Arlington National Cemetery for a private burial at 5:30 p.m. He will be buried next to his brothers, President John F. Kennedy and Sen. Robert F. Kennedy.
