  • CANTON A 60-year-old Massillon man was sentenced to probation on two counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor.
Last month, John E. Hatt, 2874 Poplar St. NW, pleaded guilty to the charges in Stark County Common Pleas Court.
Chryssa Hartnett, assistant Stark County prosecutor, said that investigators found images on two of Hatt’s computers of young children engaged in sexual activity.
Hatt must register as a sexual offender for 25 years and was ordered to continue with counseling.
In the courtroom of Judge John Haas, Hatt apologized for his behavior.
The investigation was initiated by the FBI about two years ago, Hartnett said. Computers were seized and analyzed, she said.
Rick Pitinii, Hatt’s attorney, said his client cooperated throughout the investigation. He noted that Hatt had no previous criminal record.
