  • - Sophomore goalkeeper Joey Daniels made seven saves for Manchester boys soccer as the Panthers scored a 1-1 draw with Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy in a PAC-7 match.
    - Three players scored multiple goals for the Lake Center Christian girls soccer team as the Tigers routed Garfield 13-0. Sophomore forward Gianna Skeriotis led the Tigers with four goals, senior midfielder Brittany Raines tallied three and senior defender Amanda Floyd added two scores.
    - Junior forward Ashley Guilmette scored a goal and had an assist in a 3-1 win over Cloverleaf. She also scored a late equalizer to help her team to a 1-1 draw with Boardman, keeping the Bulldogs' three-game winning streak alive.
    - Lake senior goalkeeper Jonathan McDonald made seven saves to shut out GlenOak in a 0-0 tie.
    - Green boys golf shot a team score of 324 and Lake shot a score of 330 to place second and fourth, respectively, at the Division I sectional at Tannenhauf to qualify for the district tournament. Jacob Conjerti's round of 79 led Green, while Zack Brink paced Lake with an 81.
    - A nine-hole score of 43 by Jon Wittmer and a 45 by Tim Carr were not enough to lift Lake Center Christian golf to a win against St. Thomas Aquinas in the Tigers' final match of the regular season. LCCS finished the year 7-6.
    - Ally Graham recorded five kills and Olivia Perkins added 16 assists and six digs to boost Springfield volleyball to a straight-set win over Kenmore, the Spartans' fourth victory of the season.
    - The Portage Trail Conference doubles championship team of Kayla Jackson and AnneMarie Blankenship defeated teams from Triway, Alliance and Orrville at the sectional level to advance to the district tournament. Allison Cooper also won two sectional matches for the Comets.
    - Laura Tweedie won the individual championship and Jade Smith placed sixth for Lake at the Stark County Invitational cross country meet.
    - Manchester girls soccer is ranked seventh in the most recent Ohio State Soccer Coaches Association Division III poll with a record of 9-3-1. The Panthers defeated Marlington 3-2 as Kaylee Ferguson and Karlee Dougherty scored goals.
    - Coventry boys soccer gained a measure of revenge against Springfield, which ousted the Comets from the sectional tournament last season, with a 4-1 win. Luke Bedford and Casey Prater scored goals for the Comets and Will Morisak notched two assists in the victory.
    - Jacob Kernell and Spencer Wirick placed 1-2 at the Stark County Invitational cross country meet to help the Blue Streaks to a third-place finish.
    Page 2 of 2 - - The Coventry girls soccer team volunteered recently at the Akron Children's Hospital Teddy Bear Run. The event brings together motorcycle riders and bikers who deliver stuffed animals and teddy bears to patients at the hospital. Players helped to collect, organize, and distribute the stuffed animals.
    - The University of Akron baseball team will host its annual Fall World Series from Oct. 18-23, with the squad dividing into the Blue and Gold squads and facing off in five contests to be played at Lee Jackson Field on the UA campus.
    - Coventry volleyball defeated Springfield for the second time this season, upending the host Spartans in straight sets for its sixth win of the season.
    - Green girls golf placed fourth at the Turkeyfoot Division I sectional to qualify for the district tournament with a team score of 330. Madison Jackson led the way for the Bulldogs with an 18-hole score of 78 as all four Green golfers shot 86 or better.
