A former Hewlett-Packard executive has joined Diebold as a vice president for global software strategy.
Diebold has named a former Hewlett-Packard executive to direct its global software strategy and portfolio management.
Hormuzd ’Homi’ Karkaria was named vice president of software and services solutioning. He joined the company Sept. 16.
The job has Karkaria responsible for driving Diebold’s global software strategy and portfolio management, developing a software delivery model and enhancing customer collaboration and consulting processes.
In a statement announcing the hiring, Frank A. Natoli Jr., Diebold executive vice president and chief innovation officer, cited Karkaria’s executive-level experience in global business development and information technology, plus what he called a “strong record of transforming global technology companies.”
Karkaria previously worked for Hewlett-Packard Enterprise Services in Plano, Texas, as vice president for strategic programs. Prior to that, he ran the Solutioning team and Bestshore Delivery in Brazil, Argentina, Costa Rica, Egypt, Poland, India, China and the Philippines.
Karkaria worked at EDS in Brazil before joining Hewlett-Packard, serving as vice president for global competency centers. He also held various leadership positions at Tata Consultancy Services in Brazil where he was responsible for starting outsourcing operations.
Karkaria has a master’s degree in financial management and a bachelor’s degree in electronics engineering from Mumbai University in India.
