  • Summit County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Green man wanted in connection with the Craigslist sale of a utility trailer stolen from a Jackson Township resident.
Joseph Sparrow Jr., 43, of 4291 S. Arlington Rd., was arrested and jailed on a receiving stolen property charge, according to a news release from the Summit County Sheriff’s Department.
Summit County court records show that the enclosed trailer containing several HVAC tools was stolen from Jackson Township on Thursday
Inspector William Holland said two people responded to an advertisement on Craigslist and purchased the trailer for $800.
“When the purchasers attempted to obtain a title for the trailer, it was identified as the trailer stolen from Jackson Township,” Holland said, adding that deputies do not believe the men know it had been stolen.
The resulting police investigation led to Sparrow, he said.
Deputies searched Sparrow’s home. They found two more trailers, HVAC tools, a gun and an undisclosed amount of money, Holland said.
One of the recovered trailers had no VIN (vehicle identification number) and the other had “an obliterated VIN,” he said.
Sparrow was jailed and later released on bond pending a court appearance, Summit County court records show.
But deputies continued to investigate Thursday and Holland said further charges are pending.
He also said anyone with information about recent thefts of trailers should call the sheriff’s department at 330-643-8634.
