Microsoft revealed the release date of the X-Box One today with little fanfare. X-Box 360 users were met with a simple message on the dashboard that proclaimed a Nov. 22 release date for the X-Box One. This is obviously a week later than the PS4 which releases on Nov. 15. This is another stunning failure by Microsoft. With all the negative publicity and all the policy changes surrouding the X-Box One they really could have benefited from the extra mainstream media attention they would have gotten by releasing first. Microsoft has known the PS4 release date for two weeks now so I'm stunned that they didn't find a way to get in front of Sony but its obvious Microsoft is going to do what its going to do whether its a good idea or not. This release will bring to a close one of the worst run and tone deaf public releations campaigns ever constructed and it's only fitting that the X-Box One should release second. I wrote after Gamescom that Sony couldn't count on Microsoft continuing to shoot itself in the foot down the stretch. That was obviously wrong. Microsoft is missing a big toe today and Sony has all the momentum and they should have a healthy early lead in the next console generation. All Sony has to do the next three months is take a knee.
