Everywhere we turn, we are being bombarded with political ads and election campaigns. It’s about who can make the most horrible comments about their opponent, who has the worst performance record, how each person can do so much better, and more.
We as educators are lucky. We spend our days with the best and most influential campaign promisers: our Coventry students; our future. They absorb all that they see around them and are eager to learn more each day, giving them a good performance record. They are too innocent to know the politics and controversy that go on behind levies and school funding. They just want to learn so they will be successful adults of character. We want them to be the victorious leaders of our future. But until they can be independent, they need responsible adults to support them and provide them with good schools and an excellent education. They are depending on us to treat them as special and unique individuals and give them the necessary opportunities to be successful. That is why we need to pass the Coventry levy renewal that is on the ballot this election. This levy is a renewal, not a new levy. Losing the money due to a failure of this levy would be an injustice to our children. They are counting on us! Please vote for Issue 70 this November to renew. It is not a new levy.
