  • Libraries serve as valuable tool

  • As the honorary chairman for Vote Libraries, I am asking every voter in Stark County to vote “yes” on Issue 42.
I am pleased to have been asked to participate in this effort because I think the existence of libraries is crucial to the enhancement of our neighborhoods and community at large. Our libraries offer gathering places for education, business and entertainment. Libraries provide crucial early literacy opportunities, which enhance future success for our children.
Many people do not have access to the Internet, computers, printers and e-readers. Our libraries provide these informational highways to all the citizens of Stark County.
The benefits provided by local libraries are countless and affordable. The library levy (Issue 42) is a 1-mill renewal and a 0.7-mill addition.  The total cost for a home valued at $100,000 is $50 per year. The cost of the renewal is roughly only $21 per year.  The increase is necessary because the State of Ohio is contributing less to the Public Library Fund.
Please consider supporting this very important measure. One dollar spent in library service returns $5 to the community and immeasurable enrichment to our lives. Please vote “yes” on Issue 42. Do it for yourself, your family, your friends and for the future. Be sure to visit the library closest to you soon. You will be pleased at what you find there.
