  • Coventry increases patrol on Portage Lakes Drive

  • Coventry has asked the Summit County Sheriff’s Department to increase patrol of that area and the sheriff’s department has agreed.

     “… Portage Lakes Drive has been added as a speed enforcement target zone as part of the speed enforcement task force,” Trustee David Calderone said during the trustees’ regular meeting June 13. “You will see regular and irregular speed honoring and tickets issued for violations on Portage Lakes Drive. We mean to change people’s habits in that area.”
    Coventry has asked the Summit County Sheriff’s Department to increase patrol of that area and the sheriff’s department has agreed.
     In other action June 13, trustees:
    • Accepted a bid from Gangle Excavating for the demolition of 3723 Manchester Road at a cost of $4,430.  
    • Passed a motion to request $25,000 worth of additional funds from the Moving Ohio Forward Grant monies for demolition for more dilapidated structures.
    • Passed a motion to approve the 2013 Township Road Program as approved by the Summit County Engineer at a total cost of $147,364. Aero-Mark will receive $1,394 for the crack sealing portion, Lytle Construction will receive $54,057.60 for the 405 and 422 Motor Pave portion, and Tallmadge Asphalt will receive $91,912.40 for the 448 resurfacing portion.
    • Passed a motion to approve the 2013 Internet Auction resolution to dispose of township property that is obsolete or unfit for use.
    • Passed a motion to dispose of broken and non-repairable administration and roads department equipment.
    • Passed a motion to declare some parts and equipment in the roads, parks and fire departments obsolete. The items will be auctioned off.
    • Passed a motion to declare the 2002 John Deere 1600 WAM 12-foot Mower obsolete. The Township is going to sell the mower to Springfield Township for fair market value price of $8,000.
    • Passed a motion to approve an additional $2,000 for nuisance abatement lawn mowing by Todd’s Enviroscapes.
    The trustees will meet again at 7 p.m. July 11 at the town hall for a regular meeting.
