  • Local authorities say arsonists are responsible for two Friday night fires that were about a quarter-mile apart.
One fire was at a warehouse at 62 E. Summit St. and the other was to a vacant house at 142 E. Broadway St. The fires occurred about 20 minutes apart.
“There were multiple points of origin in both of them,” said Fire Inspector Guy Aumend. “We definitely have an arsonist, and everyone in Alliance should be vigilant.”
The warehouse structure was a total loss. The owner is Anthony Vitale Jr. of Lexington Township.
“It was full of furniture and stuff he collected over the years,” Aumend said.
The owner of the 1 1/2-story frame house is Katherine Jackson of Sebring. So far, Fire Department officials have not made contact with her.
    The house has been boarded.
