  • WHAT IS IT? Repainting on one of Louisville’s three water towers.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO KNOW? The approximately 300,000-gallon water tower on the city’s west side, south of Main Street, is in need of repainting, according to City Manager Thomas Ault. Ault said the city has a five-year contract that covers maintenance, including repainting, of all three towers. The others are on the city’s northwest and northeast sections.
AND ANOTHER THING: All those rods projecting from the top of the tank have a purpose. Some are for lights, because of the height of the tower. Others are for radio and contracts with cellphone service providers, Ault said. Also, the water level in the tank can be remotely monitored by computer, and remote signals can control the level of the water in the tower, he said.
