  • Jackson Township trustees meeting for Oct. 9

  • KEY ACTION Approved declaring property at 7935 Bentwood Circle NW as a nuisance. The township will clean the property and bill the owner. The expense will include per hour billing for labor, equipment and any dumping fees.
    DISCUSSION Trustees heard from neighbors who said the home was a breeding ground for wildlife, including raccoons. Two neighbors said the property was a mess, and that they have been dealing with it since 2008. The trustees agreed that little progress had been made in cleaning up the property after giving the property owner two extensions during the past month.
    • Accepted the resignation of labor specialist Benjamin Staton effective Oct. 2. Staton was a 15-year employee and resigned due to physical difficulties.
    • Approved the hiring of a full-time labor specialist Shawn Porter effective Oct. 15 at $17.23 per hour.
    • A Haunted Hayride is scheduled for Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. at Jackson South Park.
    • Halloween Trick or Treat will be 3 to 5 p.m. Oct. 28.
    UP NEXT Meets at 5 p.m. Oct. 23 at Township Hall.
