  • Lake High School senior, Andrew Brown, has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his studies and wrestling career at Cleveland State University in the fall of 2011.  Brown becomes the first wrestler in the Lake High School Class of 2011 to announce his college plans.
Wrestling in the 130 pound weight division this season, Brown compiled an outstanding 37-7 overall record.  He finished second in both the North Canton Hoover Holiday Invitational and the Josh Hephner Memorial Tournament this past season.  He was a Sectional Champion and finished third in the Mentor Districts.  He qualified for the OHSAA State Championships where he finished 7th in Ohio.  For his efforts, he was named First Team All Federal League and First Team All Stark County.
Lake head wrestling coach, Mike Mattingly, stated, “Andrew showed great leadership because of his work ethic in the practice room all season.  He will be able to adapt to college wrestling very quickly and be successful because he already wrestles that particular style.  We are very proud of Andrew and have enjoyed coaching him.”
Andrew is the son of James and MaryBeth Brown of Hartville.
