  • A 64-year-old township woman was jailed after she was accused of attacking a man.
Dorothy A. Backur, who lives at 3448 Cornwall St. NW, was arrested at 10:25 a.m. Tuesday at her home on charges of domestic violence and felony disrupting public services, Stark County Jail records said.
The jail records said her 7-year-old grandson was present when she pushed a man to the ground, scratching and pinching him and struck him in the head with a beer bottle. The records did not say how she is related to the man.
Police noted the man had suffered injuries to his head and neck.
When he tried to call police, Backur unplugged the phone cord, preventing him from placing the call, the jail records said.
She remained in the jail early Wednesday, held in lieu of $35,000 bond pending a hearing in Massillon Municipal Court.
