  • The Metro SWAT (special weapons and tactics) team was called and responded to the Village of Lakemore on Jan. 27 when Gregory Bolyard, 42, barricaded himself in his home with a weapon.
At approximately 2:45 a.m. officers of the Springfield Police Department were called to 1523 Front St. in response to a domestic disturbance.  Officers noticed Bolyard sitting at the kitchen table in possession of a crossbow.
Bolyard then approached his live in girlfriend, Hester Walters and Officer Brian Troyer with the crossbow while loading it.
Troyer shielded Walters and pulled her to safety outside of the residence.  At that time Bolyard barricaded himself inside the home with the weapon.
Metro SWAT arrived at the scene and after lengthy negotiations, Bolyard surrendered to SWAT team members without incident.
Charges were filed for domestic violence, menacing, inducing panic, possession of a weapon while intoxicated and resisting arrest.  Bolyard was booked into the Summit County Jail.
Sergeant Eric East of the Springfield Department said at this time no bond information is available.
