  • It’s almost here, The Repository’s eighth annual Battle of the Bands! Eight teenage garage bands representing five different Stark County High Schools will be showcased in a rock ‘n’ roll concert March 5 at 7 p.m. at the Palace Theatre in downtown Canton.
The most bands ever in our battle, they range from hard-rock to blues to grunge to indie-pop. Happily, this year’s field of contenders has a distinct female presence with eight girls total, two of them lead singers.
Each band will play two songs, the first an original and the second a cover tune of their choice. Expect some fun surprises here. A panel of five judges will select the winning band at show’s end.
DJ Harry, also known as Hoover High School student Harrison Zoldan, will spin lively tunes from 6 to 7 p.m. to get the crowd revved up. Audience members are urged to bring banners and wear custom T-shirts in support of their favorite bands.
Advance tickets, $6 (cash only), are available at the concierge desk located near the food court at Westfield Belden Village. They will be $8 at the door. Last year’s show was a near-sellout.
Doors open at 6 p.m. Seating is first-come, first-served. No cameras or video equipment are allowed.
To hear two songs by each of the bands, visit www.cantonrep.com/battle. Turn the page to read a profile of each band.
Hope to see you at the show!
