  • Bruce Killian is stepping down.
Last month, Killian announced he will not seek re-election this November. His decision to step aside ends a 22-year tenure as trustee. Changes to the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS) influenced his decision. He has contributed money over the years and could risk losing it if he continues serving.
He and his wife, Mary Ann, plan to do some traveling and he plans to keep busy as a part-time farmer and part-time employee at Tractor Supply in Lakemore. A lifelong township resident, he has never lived more than three miles from his childhood home located on Killian Road.
“Springfield is a good place to live and I hope we have helped to make it better over the last 22 years – that was the goal,” Killian said. “It is always the board’s effort to make the township a better place to live. The best thing (has been) the people that have worked for the township, they make it all happen.”
