High school boys basketball report for Feb. 5
MINERVA 55, WEST BRANCH 53 Jantsen Locke and Nick Clapper combined for 35 of Minerva’s 55 points as the Lions handed the visiting Warriors an NBC defeat.
Locke canned five baskets and went 12 of 15 at the charity line for a game-high 23 points. Clapper added a dozen points, while Billy Eyer added six points and eight rebounds.
Jacob Griffith’s 14 points and 10 rebounds were highs for West Branch.
ALLIANCE 56, CARROLLTON 42 Trailing by a point at halftime, the Aviators came out and held the visiting Warriors to four points in the third quarter en route to outscoring them 31-16 in the second half.
J.J. Kukura led Alliance’s surge after the break. He tallied 16 of his team-high 21 points, including 12 in the fourth quarter, in the final two quarters. Parrish martin added a dozen points for the Aviators.
Stephen Erickson scored half of his team’s poitns to match Kukura for game honors.
MARLINGTON 64, LOUISVILLE 45 Lucas Strouble scored 24 points for Marlington as the Dukes defeated Louisville on the road.
Chris Andrews also had 12 points for Marlington.
INDIAN VALLEY 62, TRIWAY 54 The Braves used a big second quarter to send the Titans down to defeat. Up five after a quarter, Indian Valley outscored Triway 23-13 in the second quarter en route to winning its 12th game of the season.
Senior Jamie MacAdam scored a game-high 18 points and Shawn Mills went 10 of 12 at the line in scoring 15 for the winners.
Zach Kinney’s 15 points led the Titans.
GARAWAY 60, TUSKY VALLEY 48 Down 16-1 after the first quarter, the visiting Pirates rallied for the non-league triumph over the Trojans.
Garaway responded to adversity by outscoring Tusky Valley 20-9 in the second period to climb back into the game. The visitors then won the next two quarters, aided by a 5 for 10 effort on 3-pointers.
Jordan Felgenhauer’s 16 points topped the Trojans.
ST. THOMAS AQUINAS 67, NEW PHILADELPHIA 59 Four Aquinas players scored in double figures as the Knights defeated visiting New Philadelphia.
Anthony Moeglin led the way with 21 points, Will Burger had 14, Austin Hill scored a dozen 12 points and Sam Pusateri added 10 to lift the Knights over .500 at 10-9.
Marco Columbo led New Philadelphia with 22 points.
WAYNEDALE 60, CENTRAL CATHOLIC 48 Steven Vanckunas scored 12 points for Central Catholic but the visiting Golden Bears won every quarter to earn the non-league victory.
Spencer Rowlands added 11 points for Central Catholic.
LAKE CENTER CHRISTIAN 51, EAST CANTON 37 Mark Slayman scored a game-high 24 points for Lake Center Christian to help the visiting Tigers down the Hornets.
Trevor Rainieri added 11 points and Scott Hefty contributed 10 for Lake Center Christian.
Hayden Miller led East Canton with 17 points.

The Knights surged on top 21-17 in a high scoring opening quarter, then limited Northwest to 17 points over the middle quarters to take a 47-34 lead into the final quarter.
