On TV: “Happily Divorced” tonight on TV Land at 10:30 p.m. EDT/ 9:30 p.m. CDT
Tonight is the premiere of Fran Drescher’s (“The Nanny”) return to sitcom. “Happily Divorced” is a show about a Los Angeles florist living with her ex-husband (John Mihcael Higgins) after finding out he is gay. Loosely based on her own real-life events, Drescher co-wrote the sitcom with her ex-husband, who came out as gay after their divorce.
Movie review: ‘The Beaver’
Walter (Mel Gibson), a man struggling with deep chemical depression, considers suicide until he finds a survival tool in the form of a beaver hand puppet. Walter, the head of a successful family toy business, communicates solely through the hand puppet to his co-workers and his wife Meredith (Jodie Foster). While the film has a few light moments that will make you chuckle, it is a dark film. -- Meg Quinn-DeBoer/ GHNS
