  • Jackson Local Schools Board of Education
    Tuesday meeting
KEY ACTION  Board members approved the financial reports for July 2013.
DISCUSSION  Linda Paris, treasurer, explained line items on the report and why some numbers were higher than usual. The district received $137,400 in July from the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, she said. She also explained that Jackson High School has eight tuition students for the 2013-14 school year, which is double the number from last year. The district also accepted 36 retirements and resignations and replaced 33 positions on the lower end of the salary scale, she said. Board member Ken Douglas asked whether that meant the district would “do favorably” in the salary line, and Paris said yes.
    OTHER ACTION
    • Superintendent Christopher DiLoreto briefed board members on some changes the new state budget bill imposes, such as counting school years based on hours, not days.

    • Board members approved bus stops and collection points for the school year.

    • Board members met in executive session to discuss the employment of a public employee and to prepare for negotiations or bargaining sessions with public employees.
UP NEXT Meets at 6 p.m. Sept. 17 at Jackson High School.
