Here’s some press all about pizza.
1. If you love pizza, be sure to attend the Massillon Parks and Recreation Department’s second annual Pizza Wars, from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Massillon Rec Center. More than a dozen area pizzerias will be slicing up their tastiest stuff with hopes of winning the titles of Best Pizza and People’s Choice. More than 1,500 pizza partiers turned out last year for the evening of great food, beverage, music and kids’ crafts. Admission is just a buck. Food tickets are $3, which is good for one slice. The Rec is at 505 Erie St. N; the phone number is 330-832-1621. Find more details at www.massillonparks.com.
2. Ninety One Wood Fired Oven’s frequent diner program, called the “Summer Rewards Pass,” will wrap up Saturday. If you haven’t participated, here’s how it works: Spend $10 on food or beverages and get a punch in your card. Six punches earn a chance at great prizes, including the grand prize of a $500 house account at 91. Prizes have been ongoing, and recent winners were Ann Bradley and Mike Menyes, who both won free pizza for a year at 91. Visit www.91oven.com.
3. Check out Dan Kane’s review today of the breakfast at Blue Fig in North Canton, Page D-1. I have eaten at the Blue Fig in Alliance where I live, and I can personally vouch for their outstanding pizza. Buttery crust, rich sauce, and generous toppings.
