  • Get out! 'Taste of' events offer plenty of local flavor

  • Three upcoming area events are looking to offer up a menu of tasty local food and spicy local music, along with a healthy dash of family fun.

  • • The Taste of North Canton will host the fifth annual event from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Fairways at Arrowhead, 1500 Rogwin Circle SW. More than 30 local eateries will be on hand, offering everything from pizza, sandwiches, barbecue and burgers to chocolates, cookies and cupcakes. Live entertainment will be provided by the Brighter Side Band. The event also features a basket raffle, silent auction, 50/50, cash cube and cash bar. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for kids. All proceeds benefit Solid Rock Therapeutic Riding Center, through a grant by New Work City Foundation, which is hosting the event. For more details, call 330-323-5745.
    • The Taste of Canton will serve up specialties, wine and beer from more than a dozen eateries from 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. May 22 and May 23 at Market Square in downtown Canton. Live entertainment will be provided by DJ Magic Mike both days, the Jeff Poulos Blues Review from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. May 22 and the Ryan Humbert Band from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. May 23. Tickets for food and beverages can be purchased in advance at all Fishers Foods locations for presale discounts or the day of the event for face value.     • The Taste of Green is exploding onto the scene for its inaugural event, with a free three-day blast of food and entertainment at Green Town Center over Memorial Day weekend. The event will include offerings from more than a dozen area restaurants, a wine and beer garden, children’s activities and live entertainment by more than 30 musical and dance acts. Hours are noon to 8 p.m. May 25 and May 26 and 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 27. Presented by the City of Green and produced by Connecting for a Cause, the event will benefit the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, Green Schools Foundation and the Friends of the Green Parks Foundation.
