Enjoy the 4th of July in your 'backyard'
Between family picnics and fireworks displays, take some time to enjoy the Fourth of July in the Metro Parks, your back yard for 90 years.
Join Naturalist Meghan Doran for a short hike and campfire with marshmallows on Sunday, July 3 at 7:30 p.m. at F.A. Seiberling Nature Realm, 1828 Smith Rd., Akron. “This FREE event is great for families looking for an evening out close to home,” said Doran. “We will celebrate nature’s beautiful colors and listen for the sounds of summer.”
On Monday, July 4 at 1 p.m. at the Nature Realm, Naturalist Pat Rydquist will lead the search for red, white and blue butterflies including cabbage whites, red admirals, skippers and swallowtails. Nets and containers will be provided for those interested in attempting catch and release. Dress to protect your skin from briars, poison ivy and the sun.
