An elderly Akron man was killed in a Portage County crash Friday morning when he pulled into the path of a truck driven by a Lake Township man.
A Lake Township truck driver was involved in a crash that killed an elderly man early Friday morning on State Route 43 in Portage County.
Edward P. Shuber, 86, of Akron, was killed in the 6:56 a.m. crash which occurred just north of Randolph Road, said Lt. C.M. Heverly of the Ohio Highway Patrol’s Ravenna post.
Shuber was attempting to pull a 2009 Mercury Sable out onto Route 43 from a driveway when his car was struck by a northbound semi tractor-trailer driving by Allan R. Yoder, 41, of the Uniontown area, Heverly said.
The truck went off the left side of the road and struck a utility pole.
Shuber, who was pulled from the wreckage by Suffield Township firefighters and emergency medical services, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Portage County Coroner and taken to the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office, Heverly said, adding that Yoder did not require medical treatment.
The crash remained under investigation on Friday, Heverly said.
