The victim of a fatal crash involving a bicycle and a dump truck Wednesday has been identified.
A township man has been identified as the victim of the fatal Wednesday morning crash involving a bicycle and a dump truck.
An autopsy has been planned for Joseph Mahon, 60, of West Boulevard NW, who died in the crash, according to Gary Guenther of the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Township Police acting Chief Ty Bissler said Wednesday that the 8:39 a.m. crash occurred at Mudbrook Road and Lutz Avenue NW. Mahon was taken to Affinity Hospital and then to Akron General Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The crash occurred when he was struck by a dump truck.
The preliminary crash investigation indicated that the dump truck was heading east on Mudbrook and turning north on Lutz when the crash occurred, according to Maj. Mark Brink.
“The bike was west on Mudbrook and was in the intersection when the truck made the left into the bike,” he said.
Police have said that the results of the investigation conducted by their department and the Ohio Highway Patrol will be forwarded to the local prosecutor’s office.
